4An Excellent Blender Indeed.
By 80sGuy
I went from a $50 blender to a $500 blender, yup, that's right, and it is worth every dollar! The old Oster blender of 8 years (which I hardly use) was atrocious from day one but I didn't think much of it until lately when I became a huge fan of Green smoothies, and for years with Jamba Juice smoothies. I got the recipes and the old blender did nothing other than spinning things around and making loud noise. It isn't broken, but it just didn't want to blend anything in the right consistencies. That's when I started looking at higher-end blenders like Omega, Blendtec and the Vitamix. I've read all about them, including a few others and decided to go with the US-Made Vitamix brand! Although I did considered buying the Pro 200, but I couldn't pass up with this newer model for the following reasons:

1.) Has a wider and lower profile carafe (jar) which fits underneath my kitchen cabinet, also makes it easier to load contents,
2.) Along with a wider blade which seemed to reduced the use of the tamper (plunger stick), but I seem to need it when grinding multiple pieces of frozen fruits,
3.) A new quieter motor which claimed to reduce noise level by 40%,
(I do not owned any other Vitamix machine so I couldn't say, it sounded about the same as my old Oster but more solid),
4.) The new 'Pulse' button,
5.) 'Smart Motor' (more on this later)...

The Pro 300:
It came well packaged in a nice box, but the blender, jar, and tamper wasn't wrapped in any plastic bags for further protection thus causing a few scuffs and very light scratches, yes I did double-checked and it was NEW! So, minus 1 star, otherwise could of been a solid 5! The hardbound recipe book is a nice feature. It includes an array of dips, sauces, a few drinks and appetizer recipes which I'll probably never use, if I do, I'll most likely use my pans to cook them instead of the blender. One thing for sure though, I'm never going to cook soup w ith this blender because I'm not keen on the idea of running the motor for prolonged periods; in this case to generate 'friction heat' to cook the water, also, I wouldn't want to listen to a blender running on HIGH constantly for 10 minutes! The base itself is very solid and sturdy and weighs about 10 pounds because of its 2.2 peak HP motor! I also like the fact that you can wind the cord nicely underneath inside the cavity of the base. The copolyester Carafe and rubber Lid is also very sturdy. The Tamper looked like a solid piece of item but it is actually a hollowed piece of plastic and extremely light -- alas all good and fits right!

Performance:
2.2 Horsepower is definitely enough for me, that's TWO HORSES pulling away! You can make any type of smoothies in less than 30 seconds, but longer blends will give you a more 'creamier' consistency. It blends everything including the seeds and crushes ice without the aid of the tamper. Frozen fruits might require a bit longer time and use of the tamper might be needed -- but this depends on one's recipe. Of course, with the Pro 300 you can pretty much hack up anything that requires a blender to your imagination. I use this to mostly prepare liquid contents like juices, fruits & green smoothies, and sometimes gourmet sauces (for my pastas) and gravy if I feel like playing around with the Vitamix! The variable speed dial is a VERY handy feature and depending on the loaded contents; it gives you total control of how much blending time and consistency of your food. I usually start from 1 and work my way up as suggested. The 'Smart Motor' also senses the load, meaning if you have lesser quantity of food in the jar, the motor might limit the speed to a certain level, it then increases or decreases according to the load. This is where it might be confusing to new owners (including me) because it makes one thinks that the variable speed would stop on the '6' position at most times (also the thought of being defective). To clearly validate this: take the jar off, turn it on and slowly increase the dial and you will hear it ramp up and beyond '6' as you go higher.

Overall, the Pro 300 is an excellent blending machine as stated. If you want a quality-made machine manufactured in the U.S.A. with a 7-year warranty -- this is it and I don't think it can get any better. You can skimp out and spend a couple of hundreds less for a cheaper blender, but you won't find anything that can rival the Vitamix brand and the chances of replacing it in a couple of years due to cheaply and badly manufactured goods is no different than throwing your hard earned money away. Go once and for all, buy quality and buy USA!

**Just a note regarding this review: Although I did initially purchased the 300 from a third-party seller here in Amazon, but the seller (Zeus' Warehouse -- Google and read all about it) defrauded a bunch of people including myself therefore it is showing me as a verified purchaser. I then re-purchased the blender from an outside retailer named Abt which also happens to sell through Amazon's marketplace. Amazon has since refunded my money in full. So "Hats off" to Amazon for taking care of its customers and to Vitamix for the great product!

5Superb beyond words
By ILikeAmazon
When you spend $525 on a blender, you expect near-miracles regarding performance. Well, in terms of blending power, this Vitamix Series 300 exceeded my expectations: It makes smoothie-type blends so quickly, it's astonishing. Has abundant power, is reasonably quiet (but certainly makes plenty of noise while doing its job). The cleanup process, as advertised and suggested, is also quick and easy. The speed doesn't sound any faster from settings 5-10, but customer service says you'll notice a difference when doing heavy blender loads. Regardless, ice cubes, frozen berries, etc., all submitted to pulverization at remarkably low speeds in record time. I like the blender's more squat form factor and the container / lid are convenient. The controls are a bit quirky, in particular the need to reset the speed dial to 1 in order to maintain safety...but this is easily remembered / remedied. The instructional DVD is helpful if a bit too focused on recipes versus blender op eration.

Sure, it's absurdly expensive but it's also absurdly quick and powerful and makes smooth smoothies like you've probably never experienced. I've had this about three weeks so far, so I can't tell you about reliability yet, but the blender's built like a tank and Vitamix customer support was quick and friendly.

5Best kitchen appliance I've ever owned!
By K
I love this Vitamix. The large container is so much easier to use than those tall ones. I owned a model that had pre-set settings, but I returned it for this one because I don't need the pre settings. It does everything one could want.
